Meniere's Disease

Dr. Vidyasagar Dumpala

Meniere’s disease is a chronic disorder of the inner ear that affects balance and hearing. It is characterized by recurring episodes of vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and a sensation of fullness or pressure in the affected ear. The exact cause of Meniere’s disease is not fully understood, but factors such as fluid buildup in the inner ear and genetics may play a role.

Management of Meniere’s disease involves addressing symptoms and reducing the frequency and severity of episodes. Medications, dietary changes, and vestibular rehabilitation therapy may be recommended. In some cases, more invasive treatments like injections or surgery may be considered to alleviate symptoms.
